Synergy Route Analytics
How It Works
There procedures are to outline the functions in doing a preliminary routing study
for a terminal of your choice.
The Proposal
Analyze 1 to 2 weeks of terminal bills to re-engineer or set up optimized routes
for a chosen city. You will be able to implement these routes now and the data will
also be good for the future when you utilize the Synergy Dispatch.
Here are some of the key steps taken to analyze your routes:
- You prepare a report for review of bill counts by day of week per the sample in
the Pickup and Delivery Summary for Route Designs on the following page. We suggest
a selection of bills from what you consider a light month, a heavy month, and a
current month so we can see the highs and lows by day of week.
- From the report Recap, we will ask you to pull X number of specific days bills—both
the pickups and deliveries for that day. We will ask for each days bills to be available
and for the ability to tell the difference between a pickup and a delivery bill.
- We will then ask for a copy of you Customer Master file for the selected location.
- Enaptive will then perform the following:
- We will LAT/LON your Customer Master file.
- We will then LAT/LON or Zip Route the bills chosen for analysis.
- We will provide “route plans” for review by that service centers’ operations crew.
This is the ‘sanity check’ in the process.
- When accepted, we will make the plans available to you for manual use, or you could
decide to use our P&D Dispatch System for routing bills.
Pickup and Delivery Summary for Route Designs
Enaptive can provide a “Dynamic Route Plan” process that will take all of the actual
deliveries to be made, and the forecast pickups to be made and provide a P&D plan
for the day. This approach will have the greatest impact on labor savings, but it
is difficult to execute because of the various levels of labor that will result.
Therefore, we have employed the use of “static route plans” that are more in line
with what terminal operations do today. However, the new twist is that we can provide
multiple static plans that the terminal operation can easily run. They can select
from a list of plans that most closely matches what they view as today’s probable
business level. In order to establish “multiple Plans” based upon your actual data
we look at several months worth of activity to make intelligent selections of the
sample days, which will be the basis for creating plans. The idea to follow is to
select a heavy volume month, a light month, and a current month. If the terminal
has experienced year over year growth of 15%, use of the current month is the most
practical. Some selection consideration can be given to preholidays, post-holidays,
distribution days, or other operational peaks and valleys that you may be aware
of.
