Installing mobile hardware in each P&D unit and installing a new software system
has to be expensive. What do I get in return for this expenditure and how long will
this return take?
Good question. One of our current customers installed Synergy Dispatch and Cross
Dock Tracking in one of their terminals.They had a fleet of 73 P&D trucks at this
terminal, and a dock with 150+ doors. Here are just some of the savings:
- $340,000 per year in P&D costs
- $250,000 per year in office clerical expenses
- $500,000 per year on linehaul operations
- $30,000 per year by increasing biller throughput
Just these savings alone gave our customer a return on investment in well under
a year. And that doesn’t even take into account such intangibles as improved customer
service, greater capacity without increasing the fleet size, reduced OS&D, and the
general increase in credibility that comes with employing technology that is generally
expected by the public.
